Miami, FL – LMS & HAZ have been knowing each other for years. Prior to officially meeting each of them had been on their grind independently, working and creating music. Eventually the two would link at local hip-hop events.

“LMS would always be out there promoting his mixtapes.” Haz said. “One day I listened to his stuff and was like wow dude is ill. So next time I saw him we chopped it up, started working and haven’t stopped.”

Joining forces the two created their group “The BoonDock Saintz”. LMS states “The BoonDock Saintz name came about because M.C.’s will don the monikers and themes of pop culture characters they respect or identify with.” Hip-Hop’s rich history and the artist influenced by monikers and popular culture is evident (i.e. MF Doom and his Doctor Doom inspired persona, Wu-Tang Clan and them being influenced by martial arts films).

“The Saintz, fighting for truth and justice against backhanded corruption from a street level to a government level falls right in line with the themes in our music, and has been that way for years.” – LMS

Through these collaborations the duo created their new single Population Control. As LMS stated “The idea for “Population Control”, like many songs I have done, is due in part to a famous quote from George Santanaya: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” LMS continues; “For many years I have been reading and researching. From the days of Poor Righteous Teachers to Ras Kass, I have had an interest in better understanding the world around me and it’s been hip-hop that has given me both the direction to research it and ability to speak about it. So a few years ago (As Trump was starting to campaign for Presidency), Hazardis Soundz and I had recorded a number of my thoughts to his productions. We knew what we had with the end product. But we knew it was too politically divisive. We weren’t yet at the time that we’re in now. Now that time is upon us. So it’s time to share what our thoughts are.”

The message behind Population Control is simple, anyones individual freedoms can be largely taken away in times of crisis or natural disaster. With the world going through the COVID-19 pandemic, our freedom hasn’t been taken away, however being quarantined with the stay-at-home order, has citizens feeling as if their freedom has been taken away. We are on the verge of a new norm.

Hopefully the COVID-19 virus gets controlled, a vaccine is developed and our freedom isn’t taken away from us. LMS states “It’s in these times that people will actually look to the governments of the country they’re in to protect them, because that’s how healthy government practice is supposed to work. But given the History of the United States, experimenting on people without their consent or even knowledge (i.e. Tuskegee Experiments, MK Ultra etc.), these same situations can very much be used to put populations into systems of subservience and control. And here we are.”
