KENDRICK LAMAR | “BAD KID CHILL CITY” | UNHEARD SONGS
On September 29th 2018 an EP of Kendrick Lamar titled “Bad Kid Chill City” leaked online.
The EP has since been taken down from most sites, but for those of us lucky enough to hear it reminded us of a younger Kendrick who was in the depths of creating his classic album “good kid, m.A.A.d city”.
“Bad Kid Chill City” had great songs that sounded like music that didn’t make the album of “good kid, m.A.A.d city”. The EP includes an alternate version of Swimming Pools, also features from SZA, Jay Rock, Isiah Rashad, Ab Soul and a song titled “Look Over Your Shoulders” featuring a stellar performance by Busta Rhymes & Michael Jackson.
How or why these songs were released is a mystery. The T.D.E. camp is great about controlling when & what music gets released. With 2018 being a great year for hip-hop already, this weekend we’ve seen releases from Lil Wayne with The Carter V, Cypress Hill “Elephants On Acid”, Logic w/ “YSIV” & Kanye West has been teasing us with the release of his new project “YANDHI” which was suppose to release on 09.29.18.
Maybe this is a strategic move from T.D.E. to bring some attention back to the camp? Your guess is just as good as ours, as the release of “Bad Kid Chill City” is unclear.
