ICYMI – BUN B & STATIK SELEKTAH “Making Their TrillStatik Album” | WATCH NOW

In an era of increased access for fans, Bun B and Statik Selektah are taking things to a new plateau. The UGK co-founder and the esteemed producer/DJ for Joey Bada$$, Sean Price, Styles P, and so many others are making an album right now (April 17).

First announced last week, the LP, titled TrillStatik, is taking place in real-time for all fans to witness beginning today at 5 pm EST. Moreover, the co-founder of group 1982 previously stated that the first full-length joint effort between these longtime collaborators would feature a plethora of exciting guests expected to pop up in the video stream, available below. Recorded in Statik’s Brooklyn, New York studio the completed and mixed album will release on April 20.

This latest album marks the first of Bun B’s collaborative LPs outside of his Underground Kingz catalog with Pimp C. Previously, Statik made All In A Day’s Work live with Saigon in 2009. He has done three other real-time creations with Freeway (StatikFree), Freddie Gibbs (Lord Giveth, Lord Taketh Away), and 1982 partner, Termanology (The Evening News). Statik has also released collaborative projects with KXNG Crooked (fka Crooked I), Action Bronson, Strong Arm Steady, Bumpy Knuckles (aka Freddie Foxxx), and others.

The title of this release follows a series of mash-up titles. Notably, it also rhymes with Nas’ classic debut, Illmatic, which celebrates its 25th-anniversary on Friday (April 19). Today’s video is hosted by Arsonists member D-Stroy.

Last August, Bun B released Return Of The Trill, his first solo album in five years. He enlisted Run The Jewels, 8Ball & MJG, Lil Wayne, the late Chad Butler, and others. That LP was executive produced by Big K.R.I.T. In February, Statik released his first Instrumental Hip-Hop LP, Mahalo (The Hawaii Instrumentals).
