In today’s interview I had the chance to speak with the YOUNG GIANTZ. The duo who are brothers – Bigg Joe West & Deuce Mac are sons to West Coast rap pioneer Playa Hamm of the Original Penthouse Players Clique.
Playa Hamm and the group were signed by Eazy E himself on Ruthless & Priority Records in 1992.
26 years later the YOUNG GIANTZ are carrying on that legacy as they too are signed to Priority Records. Last year they released their most recent project “2000 Ninetiez” an album filled with 90’s hip hop inspired production and raw lyrical content.
While the sound of the “2000 Ninetiez “ project takes us back to the 90’s (for some people, certain era’s of the 90’s were consider the golden age of hip hop) the lyrics, flow and word play are fresh. The YOUNG GIANTZ not only tell their story but touch on topics that are relevant in todays society. The beats & rhymes, a perfect hip hop marriage.
The album also serves as a tribute to rap legends, as the YOUNG GIANTZ pay homage them, a characteristic that is hardly found in hip hop these days.
Their new single “Let’s Get Rich” (Produced by Dae One) (Video Directed by: L.A. Eyekon) is a testament to this, as they use the cadence of “Luchini” by Camp Lo [1]. So without further adieu, enjoy their new video & my interview with the YOUNG GIANTZ. #GIANTLYFE
